Inside Line Promotions – HAUBSTADT, Ind. (April 20, 2026) – Big Game Motorsports recorded a top-10 result on Sunday to wrap up a wet weekend.
The Hy-Vee Perks 40 hosted by Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., rained out on Friday and inclement weather postponed the Southern Indiana Showdown at Tri-State Speedway from Saturday to Sunday.
“Haubstadt is a place that is one of a kind,” said David Gravel, who qualified 18 th quickest. “We hot lapped decent. For whatever reason we didn’t really have speed in qualifying. I was definitely bummed about that. With only three heat races you start pretty far back if you don’t qualify good.”
Gravel gained a position to finish fifth in a heat race.
“There was a lot of dicing and sliding back and forth,” he said. “I felt if I had a better first lap I’d have had a better shot at making up more spots. I was pretty close to running fourth, but didn’t.”
That lined Gravel up on the inside of the eighth row in the main event.
“We started on the inside on the feature, which is where I wanted to be,” he said. “The first three laps couldn’t have started any better. I was able to get a bunch of guys and into the top 10. It started off great. The first restart it didn’t fire off very good. It felt like my right rear tire was low. The car didn’t work good until we built some temperature and heat into the tires. I was up to eighth at one time and then fell back to 13th. That was hard to overcome. We had to fight and claw with a lot of good guys and ended up ninth.
“Big picture, we beat the two guys we’re racing in points. You just can’t qualify that bad and expect a huge result. That’s part of racing. We’ll move on to the next race.”
Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, showcases the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash this Friday and Saturday. Gravel holds a 46-point lead in the championship standings entering the weekend.
“This round the weather is usually colder than when we go there in June,” he said. “That’s when it’s more apples to apples for when you’re there in August. They haven’t raced on the track this year so it’s a wild card weekend for Knoxville, but no matter what getting laps and us seeing where we’re at there is a plus.”
