Inside Line Promotions – WILMOT, Wis. (July 14, 2025) – Big Game Motorsports made the most of a rainy weekend by scoring its 23 rd podium result of the season on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway.
Following rainouts on Thursday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., and Friday at Wilmot Raceway, David Gravel led the team to a runner-up result during the lone World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series race of the weekend on Saturday.
Gravel qualified fourth quickest before he finished second in a heat race, earning a spot into the dash. A run from fourth to second place in the dash lined Gravel up on the outside of the front row in the main event.
“I thought it was a good night,” he said. “We qualified solid and heat raced pretty good. We were proud of the dash, starting fourth and running second. That gave us the opportunity to try to win that race. I felt we were the fastest car at the end of that race.”
Gravel ran second throughout the feature, but had a couple of close bids for the lead in the closing laps.
“Just getting by a couple of lapped cars better,” he said of what he needed. “When I slid Buddy (Kofoid) in turns one and two I could have drove across harder and made him slow down or turn left. I gave him just enough room to get by. That was not my only chance, but my biggest chance.”
The strong outing marked Gravel’s 34 th top five in 40 race starts this season.
He leads the World of Outlaws championship standings by 180 points.
A busy five straight nights of racing in Ohio is on tap this week with the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by DAC Vitamins and Minerals on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica. That is followed by the Double Down Duels and Joker’s Jackpot with Kubota High Limit Racing on Wednesday and Thursday and the Knight Before the Kings Royal and the 42 nd annual Kings Royal on Friday and Saturday with the World of Outlaws at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio.
Gravel has three World of Outlaws wins at Attica Raceway Park and the track record as well as seven triumphs with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ at Eldora Speedway, including one earlier this season.
“One of the most fun weeks of the year,” he said. “It’s a long week and stressful week, but we’re definitely looking forward to it. Being the defending champion of the race, it would be really cool to back up what we did last year. We’re excited for the challenge.”
