Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (April 14, 2025) – Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel reached 20 straight top-five results last Friday at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park.
He set quick time during his group’s qualifying session and placed second in a heat race to advance into the dash at the high-banked oval. An eighth-place result lined Gravel up on the outside of the fourth row in the main event.
“We got a good start in the feature and I think we were fifth after Lap 1,” he said. “The good start set up our race. We had a good battle with Cole (Macedo) and Sheldon (Haudenschild). It was a hectic race and we were able to hang on for a podium spot.”
Gravel’s third-place performance during the opening night of the Federated Auto Parts Spring Classic marked his 11 th podium of the season. His 20 consecutive top fives encompassed the first 14 races of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season as well as the final half-dozen shows last year.
“That’s a cool accomplishment,” he said. “I wish we could have kept it going, but sometimes it’s not in the cards. If we don’t finish in the top five we want to finish sixth and that’s what we did on Saturday.”
Despite going out late, Gravel again set quick time during his group’s qualifying session on Saturday. He won a heat race and gained a position to place sixth in the dash.
“We had a bad dash draw and weren’t as good as we needed early in the feature before the rubber came down,” he said. “We wanted a little bit more, but it didn’t work out with the circumstances.”
The sixth-place result snapped Gravel’s impressive top-five streak. However, he continues to lead the World of Outlaws championship standings – by 64 points – entering the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash this Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“We always go in there excited to race at Knoxville,” he said. “It’s a place we’re confident at. I like the big car counts and tough competition.”
