Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 22, 2025) – David Gravel increased his lead in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series to 68 points after a strong outing last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
The Big Game Motorsports driver finished sixth out of more than 60 competitors to remain as the lone World of Outlaws competitor with a top-10 result in all 16 races this season.
Gravel qualified fifth quickest in his group before he finished where he started – third – in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the fifth row in the main event and he clawed forward a handful of positions for a sixth-place result.
“It was a decent night,” he said. “I feel like we qualified pretty good. I kicked myself for not trying the bottom in turns three and four on my second lap. We weren’t very good in our heat race and couldn’t really keep up with the guys in front. We made it a little better for the feature and we were competitive. We felt very positive with how the night ended to run sixth and have room for improvement.”
Friday’s opening night of the doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway rained out.
This weekend’s races are Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., during the Hy-Vee Perks 40 and Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., during the Haubs Town Showdown. Gravel earned his first World of Outlaws win at Jacksonville Speedway last year. He has World of Outlaws victories at Tri-State Speedway in 2016 and in 2018.
“Never a dull moment at either track,” he said. “We won at Jacksonville last year and I think we ran second at Haubstadt. We’ve been fast so we’ll see if we can keep that up at both tracks this weekend.”
