Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Sweep Weekend at Cotton Bowl Speedway

March 25th, 2025

Inside Line Promotions – PAIGE, Texas (March 25, 2025) – David Gravel guided Big Game Motorsports to a sweep of the Federated Auto Parts Texas Two-Step hosted by Cotton Bowl Speedway last weekend.

Gravel set quick time during qualifying both nights – including establishing a new track record on Saturday – en route to his fourth and fifth feature victories of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Gravel opened each night with the quickest lap in qualifying and he followed with a heat race win to advance into the dash. On Friday, Gravel pulled the No. 5 during the dash draw. He gained a position in the dash to finish fourth. That started him on the outside of the second row in the main event. He drove into the lead on Lap 10.

“These guys continue to give me great race cars,” he said in a post-race interview on DIRTVision. “We’re qualifying amazing and racing just as good. We were just patient there. We kind of figured they were all going to be pretty aggressive and kind of let the race come to us and it worked out.”

Gravel pulled the No. 1 during the dash draw on Saturday to garner the pole position. He led the distance of the dash and duplicated that success in the feature, leading all 30 laps for the triumph.

“Those last five laps I was just hanging on,” Gravel said in a post-race interview on DIRTVision. “I kept getting looser and looser, and I didn’t want to grab too much more wing because I needed to get through (turns) one and two well. I saw (Buddy Kofoid) was getting close to me there on the jumbotron, but man what a run we’re on right now. I felt like we had a pretty good race car there. It just seems like sometimes when there’s a lot of cautions or reds the tires don’t fire off the best, and I feel like I lost a little bit of grip there, but I can’t complain with sweeping the night. Cody, Zach (Patterson) and Pete (Stephens) are just performing every night, giving me great race cars and giving me the platform to show my talent.”

Gravel has built an 82-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings heading into races this Friday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., during the Sooner State Showdown and Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., during the Wichita Sprint Car Showdown.

Gravel finished fifth during his most recent visit to Lawton Speedway in October 2021. His career-best World of Outlaws result at the track was a third-place outing the previous season during his debut.

Gravel placed a career-best second at 81 Speedway during his most recent race there in April 2023. He ran third at the track in May 2017.
