Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Kicking Off Third Season Together at DIRTcar Nationals

February 1st, 2023

Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (Feb. 1, 2023) – Big Game Motorsports begins the 2023 campaign next week in Florida, where David Gravel returns to pilot the No. 2 sprint car on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series trail for the third straight year.

The team posted a runner-up result in the championship standings last year for the second straight season and is eyeing a coveted championship this season.

“We have three guys on our team that have all worked together so I know we have the equipment and the people,” Gravel said. “There were about three nights you wish you could take away last year, but that’s racing. I think we’re more than capable of accomplishing all of our goals this year. We were so close to so many amazing things last year. One more step and we’re there.”

It all begins Feb. 7-11 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, which hosts a pair of Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions contests prior to the first three World of Outlaws races of the season.

After wet weather canceled the two All Star races during the DIRTcar Nationals last year, Gravel posted finishes of fourth and second prior to earning a triumph during the event finale. It was his first career World of Outlaws victory at Volusia Speedway Park and secured the DIRTcar Nationals title.

“It’s nice that I can leave my house in the morning and be at Volusia that day to race,” the Florida resident noted. “It’s exciting to get the season started after sitting around all offseason. Last year was my most successful DIRTcar Nationals overall. We were good and finished strong every night. That was a good way to start off the season. Hopefully we go there with the same amount of speed and have an opportunity to win some races this year.”

Gravel has been stout at the half-mile oval, where he has recorded a top 10 during each of his last 15 races dating back to 2019. He has at least one top-10 result during the DIRTcar Nationals since 2011. Nine of those years featured a top-five finish, including six with a podium.

“It’s a fast track so if it’s narrow it will be fast around the cushion and hammer down,” he said. “When it gets real exciting is when the A Main comes and the top gets real far around and the bottom comes into play. That’s where I pride myself on finding a lane before others do or I can run the bottom well. That’s when Volusia gets really fun.”
