Inside Line Promotions – WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 29, 2022) – David Gravel captured a pair of top fives last weekend in North Dakota to give him 30 top-five finishes this season.
The Big Game Motorsports driver placed second during the Second Leg of the Northern Tour on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and fourth during the Duel in the Dakotas on Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway.
“I’m a little bit disappointed with Saturday, but on Friday we put a good night together,” Gravel said. “Brad (Sweet) was pretty good. I just didn’t have an opportunity to challenge for the win.”
Gravel timed in fourth quickest in qualifying before he placed second in a heat race to advance into the dash at River Cities Speedway. A fourth-place result in the dash lined Gravel up on the outside of the second row in the A Main. He picked up a pair of positions to garner a runner-up result.
Saturday showcased similar success at Red River Valley Speedway, where he qualified second quickest and won a heat race. He placed third in the dash before ending fourth in the main event.
“We were good in qualifying, the heat race and the dash,” he said. “We just didn’t really have it right in the feature. The track was fast all night long and we were off a bit with a full fuel load. The car started coming to life with three laps to go, but it was a little too late.”
A trip to the Northwest is on tap for the team with racing this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals and next Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.
“This trip is pretty fun,” he said. “We like going to Skagit. There’s not much time to do extra things being we race Thursday this year and you have to drive 24 hours to get out there. Skagit is a place I’ve had success at before so hopefully we can win the big night on Saturday.”
