Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Venturing to Bristol Motor Speedway This Weekend

April 20th, 2021

Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (April 19, 2021) – David Gravel has logged a lot of laps at Bristol Motor Speedway via the famed World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series video game that was released in 2002.

This weekend the Big Game Motorsports driver will be able to compete in real life on the half-mile oval that has been covered in dirt. The track in Bristol, Tenn., hosts the World of Outlaws Bristol Throwdown on Friday and Saturday, marking the first series race at the oval since June 2001.

“There’s a lot of anticipation,” Gravel said. “It’s something we always did on the World of Outlaws game back in the day. They’ve been racing there for a month or so and the track is very fast. It will be a big crowd, a great arena. It’s pretty much like a football stadium. I’m anxious to see how it goes and how the track races.

“We’ll be going faster than back in the early 2000s. I’m hoping they’ll have the track slick where were not going 180 miles per hour. Hopefully it’s nice and wide and racy so we can put on a good show for everybody.”

Gravel enters the event ranked third in the World of Outlaws championship standings. This weekend presents a unique opportunity as all but five of the scheduled competitors will be making their first laps at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“I know we have great running engines and light race cars,” he said. “We have the pieces to go really fast. I expect our motor program to shine and to have a lot of speed. As long as we get the car to roll around the corners we’ll be in good shape. My goal is to set quick time both nights, start on the front row and go for the win. I think we are capable.”

Last weekend’s World of Outlaws shows at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., and at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, were postponed because of the weather.
