Outlaws take a week off: will be back in action at Arizona Speedway on Saturday, April 7th
CARLISLE, PA. – March 28, 2018 – Mother nature didn’t rain on the Outlaws final parade of the 2018 Spring Break tour out west. Scheduled racing for Friday, March 22nd at Ocean Speedway near Watsonville, Calif. was washed away by heavy rain. Despite multiple rain outs throughout the series tenure in March, the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ was able to race at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway on Saturday, March 24th.
CJB Motorsports driver David Gravel timed in 22nd on the night, finished 5th in his heat race and charged from 18th to 12th in the feature.
“We just didn’t get qualified where we needed to be again,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “That really digs a deep hole that you spend the rest of the night overcoming. Our cars have speed in the features; we just need to get that to translate into better runs during time trials.”
The Outlaws now get the Easter weekend off and will be back in action on Saturday, April 7th at Arizona Speedway near Queen Creek, AZ. Gravel finished second to Rico Abreu in this event in 2017.
“Arizona should be good for us,” explained Gravel. “We’re taking the week off to enjoy some time with our families but to also work on our program a bit. We’re also hoping the rain will subside more as we move back to the Midwest. We’d like to get into a rhythm and we think that’ll help.”
