Skagit Speedway double header kicks off Labor Day weekend for Outlaws
CARLISLE, PA. – August 28, 2017 – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series continues their long march through the 2017 season.
On Friday, August 25th, the tour made its’ first stop at Black Hills Speedway near Rapid City, S.D. since 2011. CJB Motorsports driver David Gravel timed in second quick in car #5. A second plash finish in his heat race scored the driver a spot in the Craftsman Club Dash, where he finished 5th.
“We started out with a good run in time trials,” explained Gravel. “Our engine stumbled a little bit on the start of the heat race when we were trying to get going. That put us back a bit but we recovered. We didn’t get the dash draw we needed so we experimented a bit. All in all, we came home sixth, which was solid.”
The following night, the team competed at BMP Speedway in Billings, Montana. Car #5, once again, qualified second for the night. A sixth-place finish in the Craftsman Club Dash allowed the CJB machine to start in the third row for the feature.
“We pretty much had two very similar nights,” said Gravel, driver of the GoMUDDY.com, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “The engine we had in our car time trials really well but doesn’t race really well for some reason. We just kept plugging away and got another decent finish.”
The month of August is now in the books for the series. A two-night show at Skagit Speedway near Alger, Wash. is next for the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ on Friday, September 1st and Saturday, September 2nd. From there, the tour will make a stop at Greys Harbor Raceway near Elma, Wash. Gravel swept last years events at Skagit and would love to make it four in a row.
“We defiantly want to repeat of Skagit success from last year,” commented Gravel. “That’s a fun race track to go to and we seemed to have a good handle on it last year. Elma will be fun as well.”
