PETERSEN MEDIA- Shaking off a frustrating weekend at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA, David Gravel put together a nice weekend in Stockton, CA that saw him pick up a fourth place finish on Saturday night.
“This Roth Motorsports team has been working hard all year and it’s great to get a really good finish,” Gravel said.
With two nights on tap on the Stockton Dirt Track, Gravel opened the weekend up on Saturday night as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83 machine in 19th quickest, missing out on the heat race inversion.
Finishing fifth in his heat, the Watertown, CT driver transferred into the feature event, though he would start near the rear as he rolled off in the 19th position. The slicked off surface was to Gravel’s liking, as he was able to work his way forward.
Racing by drivers like Kraig Kinser, Carson Macedo, and Jason Sides, Gravel would end his night with an 11th place finish.
Coming back on Sunday night, Gravel got off to a much better start as he timed in 11th fastest, and went on to grab the heat race win over his Roth Motorsports teammate, Tim Kaeding.
Earning a spot in the dash by way of his heat win, Gravel would finish in the eighth spot, and line up in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event, on a very abrasive Stockton Dirt Track.
Just like he did on Saturday night, Gravel was able to work his way forward, as he stayed inside the Top-10 during the duration of the race. As the track began taking rubber, cautions would soon plague the second half of the race. With various restart opportunities, Gravel was able to capitalize as he worked his way up to a fourth place finish to close out the weekend.
“I really have to thank all of my guys for their continued hard work,” Gravel said. “I also have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for continuing to support us. It felt good to be up in the hunt on Sunday night, and hopefully we can continue to qualify well, and put ourselves in good starting position each night. We are making progress, and hopefully we can pick up one of these wins very soon.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
2015 ROTH MOTORSPORTS BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-17, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-9.
