PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action with the World of Outlaws over the weekend, David Gravel surged to a third place finish at the I-96 Speedway on Saturday night, just one night after recording a 10th place finish at the Attica Raceway Park.
“It is great to get two Top-10’s with the World of Outlaws, and it is even better to land on the podium one of those night’s,” David Gravel said. “The boys worked hard all weekend long, and we had a really good run on Saturday.”
Taking to the extremely slick I-96 Speedway on Saturday night, Gravel timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle entry in with the fastest lap of qualifications by a very substantial margin.
Getting through his heat race with a fifth place finish, after a push truck caused extensive damage to his machine, Gravel safely advanced to the feature, and into the dash based on his quick time efforts.
Slipping back a few spots in the Dash, Gravel would finish in the eighth spot, putting him in the fourth row for the start of the feature event.
On an extremely dusty track, Gravel ran in the eighth spot most of the race, as cars slid around the speedway.
The caution flag flew late in the race, and Gravel took advantage of the restart, as he surged into the fourth spot, before getting around Joey Saldana with just a few laps left to take the final spot on the podium, where he would go on to finish.
“It was a tricky track in the feature event, and the changes we made really helped us out late in the race,” Gravel said. “It is awesome to get on the podium again, and I can’t thank Dennis and Teresa, for their continued support, and letting us all have some fun.”
Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park, Gravel timed in very well with a sixth quick effort, and finished second in his heat, putting him in the feature event, but leaving him out of the dash.
Lining up 10th in the finale, Gravel got off to a slow start as he slipped back to the 14th spot, and had to play catch-up from the first lap on.
Clawing his way back forward, Gravel would make his way back up to the 10th spot at the stripe.
“We struggled a little at Attica, but when an off night is a Top-10 we can’t hang our heads to much,” he added. “I have to thank everyone for continuing to work so hard on a daily basis, it really gives me that much more confidence on raceday.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2014.
