8th place finishes in South Dakota and Montana have team looking for more
CARLISLE, PA. – August 27, 2018 – A pair of 8th place finishes has the CJB Motorsports looking for a bit of redemption as they head towards the second west coast swing of the season.
The team and driver David Gravel were in action as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series took on the Black Hills Speedway near Sioux City, S.D. on Friday, August 24th. Gravel timed in 6th quick, finished second in his heat race and fourth in the Craftsman Club dash.
“Black Hills is a fast track,” Gravel said. “We had a decent run throughout the night and struggled in the feature. We slid backwards in the feature.”
A long overnight drive brought the team and the series to Billings, Mont. and the Big Sky Speedway. Gravel timed in 3rd quick on the night, won his heat race and started the feature in 3rd.
“A similar night when we got to Montana,” Gravel explained. “We just faded too much in the feature. We’ve started well. Just couldn’t keep it going in the feature.”
Up next is a trek over the continental divide to the west coast and the Skagit Speedway near Alger, Wash. for the Outlaw Energy Showdown on August 31st and September 1st. Grey’s Harbor Speedway near Elma on Monday, September 3rd, complete a Labor Day weekend triple header for the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt.’
“Skagit is a great place to race,” commented Gravel. “We swept the weekend there in 2016 so we’ve run well there in the past. Greys Harbor is also a fun place to race and a good way to cap off the weekend before we head south.”
