Brad Doty Classic and annual Kings Royal weekend challenges Gravel and team
CARLISLE, PA. – July 9, 2018 – David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports team continue to get hot during the summer months. A pair of top-5’s at Wisconsin’s Cedar Lake Speedway have the organization looking forward to the beginning of the famed ‘Month of Money.’
On the opening night at Cedar Lake Speedway, Gravel and the #5 car timed in 4th before finishing second in both the heat race and the Craftsman Club dash.
“I definitely didn’t want to see that yellow late in the race,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “My car was getting better as the race went on and that reset the field so that Brad Sweet (race leader and eventual winner) could get some clean air.
Night number two of the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown was just as exciting as Gravel timed in 13th, finished 4th in his heat race and started the feature in 10th.
“Qualifying just set us behind for the night,” explained Gravel. “The track was good enough so that we could make up some positions in the feature. We had fun coming through the field but don’t really want to be put in that situation. Time trials can come down to preparation and, sometimes, sheer luck. Hopefully we get some more luck on our side in the upcoming races.”
The ‘Month of Money’ is now upon Gravel and the team as the annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park takes place on Tuesday, July 10th. Following that even will be three nights of competition at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio for the prestigious Kings Royal weekend.
“Attica is a place I ran a ton with the All-Stars and we won the Doty last year so we’re pretty confident heading in to it,” commented Gravel. “We’ve been hit or miss at Eldora and want to get back on the right track. The Royal itself is a crown jewel event that we want to add to our trophy case. It will take a ton of hard work but we’re certainly capable of pulling it off.”
