NORTH DAKOTA ROW: Good Finishes for Gravel & CJB Looking Forward to More

June 20th, 2018

Iowa and Wisconsin up next for ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’

CARLISLE, PA. – June 19, 2018 – North Dakota has been a good place to race for David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports team. A pair of wins last year gave the team excellent notes heading into the 2018 campaign.

The first stop of the new year came at River Cities Speedway near Grand Forks, N.D. on Friday, June 16th. Gravel and the team timed in 10th, finished 3rd in their heat race and began the feature in 10th.

“We got behind in time trials,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “We had one restart where we had a decent shot but then a yellow came out. It just wasn’t our night. Wasn’t meant to be.”

A rare Saturday night off in the summer was followed by Father’s Day special at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D. on Sunday, June 17th. A second-place effort in time trials set the tone for the evening. A win in the heat race and a second place finish in the Craftsman Club dash had Gravel smelling victory.

“We had some really good speed right off the trailer and it showed,” explained Gravel. “Made it through the heat race, dash and into the feature. We had about a fourth place machine and that is where we finished. Wanted a win but some other guys were better. It was a solid night for us though.”

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series run in the upper Midwest marches on as stops at Farley (Iowa) Speedway on Friday, June 22nd and Beaver Dam (Wis.) Raceway on Saturday, June 23rd. Both tracks have Gravel and his team licking their chops.

“Farley is a place no one has been to that I know of,” commented Gravel. “We really like going to new places since it levels the playing field. Beaver Dam is a place we have had circled on the calendar. We’ve run really well there in the past. Just haven’t had the luck that we’ve needed. We’re hoping that changes this year and we can get back to victory lane.”
