TOP-5’s IN MID SOUTH: CJB #5 Continues Climb in Standings with Solid Outings

May 9th, 2018

Action packed weekend at Eldora and Tri-State Speedway on tap for ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’

CARLISLE, PA. – May 8, 2018 – David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports team appear to be finding their groove as the calendar flips over from April to May. After grabbing their first win of the season at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Texas, the team added two more top-5’s to their season tally at Lake Ozark Speedway near Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri and the Salina High Banks Speedway near Salina, Oklahoma.

The event at Lake of the Ozarks Speedway was contested on Friday, May 4th and marked the first visit for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series to the facility in 11 years. Gravel timed in 7th, finished second in his heat race and 4th in the Craftsman Club dash.

“Running at a new track is a lot of fun for me and this team,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “We timed in in the top 10, made it to the dash and finished second. We had a good car. Just wasn’t enough to get past Donny (Schatz.)”

The Salina Highanks Speedway is a favorite of Gravel’s on the tour and another impressive finished backed that up. The #5 machine timed in 9th quick, finished 3rd in the heat race and lined up for the feature in 9th.

“Another good run for us,” explained the driver of car #5. “We’ve gotten our car dialed in a bit more. We need to time in better. Once we do that, we feel like we’ll be in contention, night in and night out.”

A potentially blockbuster weekend is on tap as Gravel and co. travel to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio for the #LetsRaceTwo weekend that pairs the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series with the USAC National Sprint Car Series. Following Friday and Saturday nights racing action, the tour then heads to Tri-State Speedway near Haubstadt, Indiana for a Mothers Day make up event.

“Eldora will always be a special place for any sprint car driver,” said Gravel. “We’ve been lucky enough to win there in the past and we would really like to add another one. Tri-State has also been a good track to us so we’re looking forward to getting back there for sure.”
