ROUTED BY RAIN: Outlaws Lose an Entire Weeks Worth of Racing to Mother Nature

May 20th, 2018

New Jersey, North Carolina and Indiana make up Memorial Day trifecta for ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’

CARLISLE, PA. – May 20, 2018 – Mother nature certainly has not been a race fan thus far in 2018. Heavy rains the in the central Pennsylvania area have caused series and track officials to cancel or delay the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events at Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown and Williams Grove Speedway near Mechanicsburg. The news was obviously a disappointment to both CJB Motorsports and driver David Gravel.

“Losing this many races really stinks,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “The Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln is one of our favorite events and we won that one last year so we were looking forward to it. We heard the are working on a new date for it. We know we’ll race at the Grove during the Summer Nationals for more money on Friday night ($13,000.) That’ll be exciting.”

A trip of events help make up an exciting Memorial Day stretch as the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ visits Design for Vision/Sunglass Central Speedway at Bridgeport (N.J.) on Tuesday, May 22nd, the Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track at Charlotte in North Carolina on Friday, May 25th before ending up at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway on Monday, May 28th.

“This is one of my favorite weekends of the year,” explained Gravel. “I love racing near home. We get to see a lot of family and friends when we race in New Jersey since I am from Connecticut. We always seem to have a great car at Charlotte so we are looking forward to that, for sure. Lawrenceburg is one of the most exciting places we go to and it always puts a great show on. Hopefully, there is no rain anywhere in the forecast.”
