ROLLIN’ THE DICE: CJB #5 team Heads West to Vegas to Kick Off March

February 27th, 2018

West Coast Swing provides springboard to the rest of the season for Gravel and team

CARLISLE, PA. – February 27, 2018 –  Many people know that Las Vegas is a magnet for gambling. It’s also quite the racing hotspot. With a state of the art racing complex, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series makes an annual pilgrimage to a half mile dirt oval located in Sin City.

David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports will head to the track looking for their first win of the season. Mother nature delayed the Outlaws stop at Cotton Bowl Speedway near Paige, TX. until April 25th and canceled the event at Lone Star Speedway near Kilgore, TX.

“We’re obviously disappointed there was a cancelation of a weekend,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “We’ve been wanting to get back to the track and get to racing. It really helps you and the team get going once you’re back in the swing of things. It’s kind of like knocking the rust off. It did give our guys some more time at home to prepare and get ready for the west coast swing, which is nice.”

With the events at the Las Vegas Motorspeedway taking place on Wednesday, February 28th and Thursday, March 1st, the series will take a night off and then invade the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway on Saturday, March 3rd. CJB Motorsports owns victories at both tracks with Gravel claiming the checkers at Perris last season.

“Vegas is a track where you don’t really know what you are going to get from one night to the next,” said Gravel. “One night it could be very heavy. The next, it could be dry and slick. It’s hard to do track prep out there since it is in the middle of a desert. It’s a very fast track and Barry (Jackson) has gotten a car to victory there before so hopefully we can repeat that. Perris is wide and fast as well. It’s a place that can put on a good show. Vegas and Perris remind me tracks back east in that they are big and fast. That should play to our strengths. Hopefully we can get a few wins and get our season off the ground.”
