Historic tracks like Eldora & Lernerville begin home stretch of Outlaw season
CARLISLE, PA. – September 19, 2017 – With the vineyards of Napa Valley surrounding them, CJB Motorsports and driver David Gravel aimed to tackle the Calistoga (CA) Speedway as they closed out their second western swing of the 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season.
Night one at the legendary half mile oval took place on Friday, September 15th as saw Gravel qualify his CJB machine in the 4th position. Following a second-place finish in their heat race and a fourth place finish in the Craftsman Club dash, all eyes were on the #5 car as the feature began.
“We had a really good car,” explained Gravel. “We knew that Calistoga would be a great track for us and it was. We raced well all night. With all the cautions, we just ran out of fuel there at the end. I certainly felt that we were a top-5 car.”
Back at Calistoga for the second night, the #5 car timed in 6th and finished third in the heat race. The team once again started near the front for the feature.
“Another great night,” said the driver of the GoMUDDY.com, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “I feel like we’re getting back into a groove again, which is nice.”
The team now begins a cross country drive as they set off for Rossburg, Ohio. The tour will take part in the annual Four Crown weekend at Eldora Speedway on Friday, September22nd before moving on to Lernerville Speedway near Sarver, Pa. the following evening for the Commonwealth Clash.
“Eldora is always high on our list and we want to make up for our Kings Royal performance this year,” mentioned Gravel. “Lernerville is also another place that we expect to run well at. We’re pretty excited about getting back closer to home as well.”
