CARLISLE, PA. – July 24, 2017 –  The month of July continues on and David Gravel and his CJB Motorsports team continue to be right in the thick of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series title fight.

Fresh off of a strong Kings Royal weekend, the team made its’ way to western Pennsylvania and the Lernerville Speedway outside of Sarver for the annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup on Tuesday, July 18th. Gravel and the time took home the trophy and the $25,000 pay day. In the 2017 edition, Gravel timed in third before winning his heat race. A fifth-place finish in the Craftsman Club Dash allowed the driver to roll off for the feature in prime position.

“We had a good run at Lernerville,” said Gravel, driver of the GoMUDDY.com, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “Sheldon (Haudenschild) led a good portion of it and then had trouble. We had a good car and was able to push forward. A podium finish was a good night. “

The Pennsylvania swing wasn’t finished for the team. A two-night tilt at Williams Grove Speedway near Mechanicsburg was up next on Friday, July 21st and Saturday, July 22nd.

“We had another great night,” said Gravel. “We raced Lance Dewease and the fans thought I got into him. I know I never touched him, Lance probably had a pretty tight race car and flipped over in the curb. I honestly didn’t want to slide him. I checked up. I thought, he doesn’t get back around me, but he obviously got stumbled up in the curb. That’s what happened, and then I had to work really hard to get back to second. I feel like we had the best car but finished second.”

Saturday nights event was completed up until the feature. Rains forced series and track officials to delay the feature until Thursday, September 28th. Rains also forced the delay on a scheduled event at Ransomville (N.Y.) Speedway to a yet to be determined date in October.

The Outlaws lone trip to Canada with a stop at Ohsweken (Ont.) Speedway on Tuesday, July 25th. Trips to Hartford (Mich.) Speedway on Friday, July 28th and Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway on Saturday, July 29th, will close out the month.

“Ohsweken is a fun place to race at,” said Gravel. “It’s also kind of cool to got Canada and race for those fans. Hartford and Wilmot are great midwestern tracks and it’ll give us a few more shots at wins before we get into Knoxville for the Nationals.”
