CARLISLE, PA. – May 9, 2017 –   The month of May is infamous in the middle part of the United States. Tornado season is common place in the area known as the “fly over states.” David Gravel and his CJB Motorsports team took to two tracks in this area, racing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the Missouri State Fair Speedway near Sedalia and 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

The track at Sedalia was the largest the tour will see all season at just over half a mile. Gravel timed in 11th, finished his heat in fourth and started the feature in 15th.

“We are working on our big track program,” said Gravel, driver of the GoMUDDY.com, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “We’ve been great in the past and we’ll be there soon. Sedalia is a fun place and we were able to get a solid finish out of it.”

A trip westward brought the team to 81 Speedway. It was the first time in 11 years the tour had visited the track just outside of Wichita, Kan.

“That was a fun race,” said Gravel, who timed in 7th, also started the feature in 7th. “Lapped cars were pretty tough, they were running pretty high and made it pretty difficult. It was hard to tell where they were going to go. Daryn (Pittman) got by me, but I think we had a second-place car. I just wish we could have qualified a little better to get in the dash and get another shot at the race track. If we had started on the front two rows, I think we could have gotten the win. We’ll take our podium and move on to the next race.”

A big weekend awaits the #5 team as they head to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio for a two-night affair with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series on Friday, May 12th and Saturday, April 13th. Tri-State Speedway near Haubstadt, Ind. will get their make-up date on Sunday, May 14th and will close out the weekend.

“Eldora is always a special trip,” said Gravel.  “The history and everything there just makes it a really big deal to win. We also have a lot riding on the visit to Haubstadt. It’ll be a challenging weekend but I think we’ll do pretty well.”
