STOCKTON STAMPEDE: Gravel & CJB Take Care of Business at the Stockton

March 29th, 2017
Placerville, Hanford & Perris close out first west coast swing of 2017
CARLISLE, PA. – March 28, 2017 – Another top-5 finish has David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports team with their eyes towards more race wins as the first west coast swing of the 2017 season enter its’ home stretch.

Gravel and the team saw the first of two scheduled nights at the Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track be canceled due to persistent rains. On Saturday night, the team returned with the cooperation of Mother Nature. Of 39 cars, Gravel timed in fourth and that set the tone for the evening.

“We raced well in the heat race and made it into the dash,” said Gravel, driver of the GoMUDDY.com, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “That always helps out. The track got heavier and heavier as the feature went on and it got rough. We just kind of held on there and was able to make up a few spots. We’re very happy to get a top-5.”

The tour now sets their eyes on a Placerville (Calif.) Speedway for a mid week show on Wednesday, March 29th. After that, it’s on to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif. on Friday, March 31st and Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway on Saturday, April 1st. Last season, the tour made stops at Placerville and Peris with Gravel finishing 4th and 6th, respectively.

“Placerville is a cool place,” said Gravel, who won an event at Thunderbowl Raceway this season.
“It’s a tight bullring and I am looking forward to it. Certainly a place we ran well at last year. We had a top-5 even when we lost the brakes so I think we will be good there. Hanford reminds of the tracks back where I come from out east. It’s a tad bigger than a 3/8ths. Looking forward to getting back there as it is probably my favorite California track. Perris is a big track. The corner entry is a bit narrow but the turns are wide and sweeping. It’s a fun place.”
