Team heads for Midwest as end of 2016 season rapidly approaches
CARLISLE, PA. – October 5, 2016 – With one of the biggest races of the season on his mind, David Gravel rolled into Williams Grove Speedway near Mechanicsburg, Pa. on Friday, October 14th.
The driver from Connecticut was joining the rest of the drivers from the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’
For the rescheduled crown jewel event at the paperclip shaped half mile oval. With $20,000 on
the line and bragging rights, the driver of car #5 got off to a great start by charging from 4th to
1st in his heat race.
“The run in our heat race really made our night,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “We had a good run at the Grove but we obviously wanted to be in victory lane with it being so close to home.”
The following night, the series stayed in central Pennsylvania with a stop at the Port Royal (P.A) Speedway. Gravel and the CJB team notched top-5’s at the track earlier in the season at the Bob Weikert memorial race.
“Port (Royal) was another home race for our team,” said Gravel, who nearly won both nights at the Weikert Memorial. “We ran pretty well there. We ended with a good finish and we can’t really complain about that. Wanted to get up there for a top-5 but we still had some speed.”
The CJB team now heads for the Midwest with a tilt in Tornado Alley. Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City will host the series on Friday, October 21st with the Salina (Okla.) High Banks Speedway taking center stage the following night.
“We’re almost there at the end of the year,” said Gravel. “Lakeside and Salina are two good and fast tracks. Our Kistler power should give us a good step up and I know Barry (Jackson) will have a great setup for us so hopefully we can get our tenth and eleventh wins of the season.”
