WEST COAST FINISHER: Gravel Closes Out Second West Coast Swing with Three Straight Top-10’s

September 14th, 2016
Series now comes back east with stops in Colorado, Iowa and Missouri in September
CARLISLE, PA. – September 14, 2016 –  David Gravel and the #5 team continued their season long march towards a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series title along the west coast.
Fresh off of back-to-back wins at the Skagit Speedway near Alger, Wash., the Pa based team took on the Willamette Speedway near Lebaon, Ore. on Wednesday, September 7th.
“We had a pretty solid run in Oregon,” said Gravel, pilot of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “Car felt pretty good. We didn’t make the dash or and ground in our heat race so we had to get going in the feature, which went by really fast. It was close to eight minutes since there were no yellows.”

It was another trip down south for the #5 team as they visited California for the second time in 2016. On the docket was the 63rd annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.
“The opening night at Chico was a learning experience for us,” said Gravel. “We slipped back a bit in the feature but learned a bit.”
Gravel and the #5 were back in action the following night for the finale.
“We got a much better start on the second night,” said Gravel, who currently sits third in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series standings. “We ended up surviving the feature when a lot of other drivers got caught up in wrecks.”
Gravel and the team will now move east to finish out the 2016 schedule. Up first is a stop at El Paso County Raceway near Calhan, Colorado on Wednesday, September 14th before stops at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa on Friday, September 16th and US 36 Raceway near Cameron, Missouri on Saturday, September 17th.
“It’ll be fun to race in Colorado,” said Gravel. “Since it’s relatively new place for us, we should all be on even footing. Clay County is a fun place to visit since they have the fair going on. US 36 is also a new place and we’ve done pretty well with those this year.”
