PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking to the Placerville Speedway and the Calistoga Speedway over the last week with the World of Outlaws, David Gravel and his Roth Motorsports team had some very good runs that were highlighted by fourth and sixth place finishes.

“Overall we had some really good speed, and raced very well at both tracks,” Gravel said. “We were able to put ourselves in good position, and capitalize.”

Kicking his week off on Wednesday night at his first ever appearance at the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA, Gravel would go out late for time trials, but was able to make the inversion as he timed in 12th quickest.

Grabbing a win in the heat race, Gravel would move the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83 machine into the Dash, where he would find himself on the front row.

Not getting the start he would have liked, Gravel would ultimately finish in the third spot, putting him in the second row for the 35-lap feature event.

In the feature event, Gravel would bide his time, as he chased after the lead duo of Kyle Hirst and Andy Forsberg, before he felt pressure from Donny Schatz. A couple of restarts would shuffle things around, and Gravel would cross the stripe with a fourth place finish.

“We went out late, and did better than most who did as well, and put ourselves in a great position,” he said. “We won our heat, made the dash, and battled for a podium.”

Heading to the Calistoga Speedway over the weekend, Gravel would get things started off on Saturday night by timing his entry in 22nd quickest.

Failing to get out of his heat race, Gravel would go to the Last Chance Showdown, and in that race the Roth Motorsports team would take advantage of the extra track time, and get him dialed in for the feature after his fourth place run in the LCS.

Lining up 20th in the feature, Gravel got off to a great start, as he charged his way forward towards the Top-10.

On the fifth lap, Gravel had made his way to the 11th spot, but as he got into turn one, his right-rear would give way, and his machine would take a nasty tumble.

A valiant effort by the Roth Motorsports team amongst many others saw repairs get made to the machine, but he wouldn’t be able to make the call to restart until a lap was completed. Though he would restart a lap down, Gravel showed great speed through the race, and was pleased with his team’s efforts.

“The B main really helped us get this car really good,” Gravel added. “We were really fast and unfortunately we lost a tire and got upside down. My guys did a great job of getting us back out, and we still had really good speed.”

Sunday night saw Gravel set the standard in time trials, as he earned quick time honors before working his way from fourth to second in his heat race.

Following a seventh place finish in the Dash, the Watertown, CT driver would hang inside the Top-10 during the duration of the feature event. With some restarts shuffling him around, Gravel worked into the fifth spot, only to see Kerry Madsen nip him at the line as he closed his weekend with a sixth place finish.

“This entire team worked hard all week long, and I have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for putting me in this great position,” Gravel said. “We were able to time in well, and take advantage of heat race starting position and put ourselves in the dash a couple of times. We are getting better and better, and are getting closer to grabbing that first win of the season.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
